Visual Sports Systems develops interactive sports simulators. Their simulations include sports such as hockey, soccer, and golf. VSS is located in Concord, Ontario.

Playbrains is a game development studio that specializes in digitally-distributed games. Located in Ottawa, they develop for console, PC, and mobile devices.

Sylien Games is a social games developer that has developed over 130 web games and have ported many of those to mobile devices. Sylien is also located in Ottawa.

Located in Montreal, SixDead Entertainment a mobile games developer. Games they have developed are Brain Lab, Mars Smash, and Galaxy Defenders.

Stitch Media is a digital media production company specializing in interactive storytelling across many formats and technology. They have offices in both Halifax, and Toronto.

Pleznt Interactive is an independent app developer from London, Ontario. Their latest mobile app is called SuperNimbus.

Toronto based Alien Concepts is a 2D/3D art and design studio. Their projects include Night of the Scarecrows for the casual games market, and an interactive website for the Toronto Zoo.

Gold Sun Games is located in Moncton, New Brunswick. They are a casual games developer with titles including Megaplex Madness, Broken Hearts, and Super Rocket Racer.

From Port Moody, BC comes independent games developer Stinger Games. Their apps include Team Canada Table Hockey, Stinger Foosball League, and top ranked Stinger Table Hockey.

Nova Scotian company Think Animation is a full service 2D/3D animation and casual gaming studio. They provide many services including storyboarding, character design, asset building, and programming.

Ratrod Studio is a Gatineau, Quebec based entertainment software company that specializes in cross platform game development. Their games include Mike V: Skateboard Party, Hockey Fight, and Driftmania Championship.

CANARIE’s Digital Accelerator for Innovation and Research (DAIR) Program

CANARIE launched the DAIR pilot program in April 2011. DAIR provides small and medium-sized high-tech companies with an opportunity to speed time to market by offering an advanced R&D environment for product design, prototyping, validation and demonstration. DAIR was a great success and the results of the program are available in this press release at http://canarie.ca/templates/news/releases/2012-02-15_DAIR_Survey_en.pdf.

CANARIE intends to expand the program, and has incorporated this proposal into its mandate renewal request to the Government of Canada. In order to build the most beneficial program for SMEs, CANARIE is looking for feedback from digital entrepreneurs across the country on how best to meet their cloud-computing needs.
